On July 13th, 2004, a rally and press conference was held in Annapolis, MD. The event was co-sponsored by the national groups Common Cause, MoveOn, TrueMajority, Working Assets, Electronic Frontier Foundation, Democracy for America, Computer Professionals for Social Responsibility, National Committee for Voting Integrity, and VerifiedVoting.org. The event encouraged election officials to use their authority to require computerized voting machines to produce paper records, which can be verified by voters and kept for audits and dispute resolution
