Senate considers whether to delay paper ballot-based voting |

This is the key week in the Maryland Senate where there have been aggressive lobbying efforts to delay the implementation of paper ballot-based voting counted by optical scan machines.
Last week we succeeded in getting the funding for the transition through the House Appropriations Committee, but that was the easy part. This week the Senate needs your attention, we need your help.
There are two things we want you to do:
1. Join us this Thursday when the Education, Health and Environmental Affairs Committee holds a hearing on delaying the transition to paper ballots beyond the 2010 deadline. We need you to come to Annapolis to testify and show public support for the end of paperless voting. The hearing will be heard this Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 1:00 PM. We need to show support for continuing the transition to optical scan voting on schedule. Testimony should be very brief merely urging that the transition to paper ballots with optical scan counting occur on time. 2. Please send a letter to members of the Education, Health and Environmental Affairs Committee, the Budget and Taxation Committee, Governor O'Malley, and your senator.
