TrueVote lobby night Monday! Take action for paper ballots
MARCH 11, 2009

We need your help. The progress we have made is in serious jeopardy. Democracy activists are working hard to prevent backtracking on the transition to paper ballot in Maryland.

TrueVote, working with our allies, is helping to organize a lobby night this upcoming Monday, March 16. We will meet in the Senate Building, 11 Bladen St, at 5:30 in the rotunda (turn right and walk up the ramp after passing through the metal detector). There you will be organized into teams and given legislators to talk to along with talking points and other materials.MARCH 11, 2009

There you will be organized into teams and given legislators to talk to along with talking points and other materials.

In preparation for the lobby night please visit: http://mdelect.net/ and get the list of your Delegates and Senator. Please send that information to Stan Boyd, sbb223 [@] yahoo [dot] com and let him know you are coming so we can organize the lobby night.

In the meantime, please take action now. Send an email to your legislator and key legislators on whom we are focusing. It will take you less than a minute to send this letter. You can send the letter by clicking here. The letter urges elected officials to continue with the implementation of the paper ballot-based voting system with optical scan machines to count the votes and to support a bill requiring audits on election day.

Our message points out that the transition to paper ballots will immediately save Maryland money because of the tremendous cost of the upkeep of the Diebold/Premier touch screen machines, that a system can be put in place that allows the disabled to vote privately and independently, and that the paper ballot-based system is more reliable and transparent than the current system.

The most common voting system used throughout the United States is paper ballots with optical scan voting. Maryland has no reason to delay implementation.

Please help us make sure Maryland stays on track and a voting system Marylanders can trust is put in place.
