Paper Trail Bills To Reach Senate Floor
TrueVoteMD Urges Passage of Bill that Passed House Unanimously

Annapolis, Maryland.  HB244/SB713 are expected to reach the Senate floor tonight or tomorrow.  The bills were amended Friday night by the Education, Health, and Environmental Affairs Committee to require no action for 2006 and a paper trail for 2008.

TrueVoteMD and coalition partners will be in Annapolis tonight at 6pm urging Senators to amend the bills back to the original version which passed the House unanimously.  HB244 passed the House requiring a paper trail, audits of 5% of precincts, and op-scan for 2006.

TrueVoteMD is standing firm for the best voting system for Maryland," said Linda Schade, Director.  "If the Senate passes the exact version that the House passed, the Governor has promised to sign it and has already put funding in the budget.  If not we'll be using free-falling voting again this fall."
